The final of the upcoming Euro will be played at the Olympiastadion in Berlin, as in 2006, when the World Cup final was played at the same place, in which Italy beat France after a penalty shootout. Almost two decades later, the Olympiastadion will be the scene of another final of an international competition. In addition to the final match, several more matches will be played at the Olympiastadion in Berlin.

The derby will be played at the Olympiastadion

Three games will be played at the Olympiastadion in the group stage, and the first match will be a derby between the semi-finalist from the last Euro, Spain and Croatia, which won third place at the last World Cup. These two national teams will compete at the Olympiastadion on June 15, and Spain and Croatia played a match in the round of 16 last Euro and after the spectacle, Spain defeated Croatia 5-3 after extra time. In the end, she narrowly missed out on being in the final as she was eliminated by Italy after a penalty in the semi-final.

Croatia and Spain will compete at the Olympiastadion

In addition to these two national teams, Poland and Austria will meet at the Olympiastadion on June 21 in Berlin. Austria routinely qualified for the Euros, unlike Poland, which managed to secure a visa for Germany only in the playoffs. This will not be the only match that Austria will play at the Olympiastadion in Berlin, because on June 25, this national team will compete against the Netherlands. This match could be decisive for the outcome of the group as France is expected to finish first in the group.

All three mentioned matches that will be played at the Olympiastadion will start at 18:00 CET. Several knockout stage matches will also be played at the Olympiastadion. We have already mentioned that the final match will be played in Berlin, but there will also be a round of 16 match first.

The grand final will be played at the Olympiastadion

On June 29, the runners-up from groups A and B will compete at the Olympiastadion in Berlin, so there are real possibilities that Spain or Croatia could play again at the Olympiastadion, although it could also potentially be Italy. It is expected that Germany will take the first place in group A, and that Switzerland, Hungary and Scotland will fight for second place, so that one of those national teams will play in Berlin at the start of the knockout phase.

One quarter-final will be played on July 6 at this stadium, while eight days later this tournament will be put to an end by playing the final match at the Olympiastadion. For now, the biggest chances of participating in the final match are given to the host of the tournament, with England or France as their rivals.

What else to visit besides the Olympiastadion?

Fans who come to support their national team in Berlin will have to visit the Olympiastadion, but in the capital of Germany they will be able to enjoy other things besides football. Berlin has something to offer everyone. People who want to learn about German history come here, artistic souls, foodies, beer drinkers, those who want to enjoy the nightlife or those who want to take a break from it all. Football fans will certainly not rest and will have something to do in Berlin throughout the day.

Real euphoria will await us on July 14, when the UEFA Euro 2024 final will be played in this city. The greatest impression when visiting Berlin is caused by the history related to the period of the Second World War and the Cold War. Numerous monuments and other buildings reminiscent of the mentioned era can be seen in the city. The symbol of this city is the famous Brandenburg Gate, which managed to survive the Second World War with considerable damage.

East Side Gallery Berlin

Since the fall of the Berlin Wall, it has been a symbol of freedom. The East Gallery is the longest continuous line of the Berlin Wall and the longest open gallery in the world. You can see over 100 pictures illustrating the changes at the end of the 1980s. One of the liveliest places in Berlin is the main square, Alexanderplatz, from which you can see the most buildings in the capital of Germany, the TV tower, 368 meters high. You can climb up and enjoy the view of the whole city.

The Brandenburg Gate is a symbol of Berlin

Among the other famous buildings, the Reichstag parliament building stands out, which was a very important symbol during the war, and one of the most famous photos is the one showing a soldier of the Soviet Union raising the flag as a symbol of victory over Germany. In 1990, the ceremony for the unification of Germany was held at this place. In Berlin, there is the oldest zoo in Germany and the most visited zoo in Europe, which suffered considerable damage during the war, and over 3,900 animals died out of the 4,000 that were stationed in the garden at the time.

In this city, there is also a Holocaust memorial that covers 200,000 square meters and there are over 2,700 concrete slabs of different heights. Checkpoint Charlie, which was the most famous border crossing between West and East Berlin, is of particular interest to tourists. Just as Germany once united, the whole of Europe will unite this summer through football, and on July 14 at the Olympiastadion, we will find out the name of the national team that will become the European champion.
